JP8 were delighted to be able to attend the latest derby match between Levski Sofia and CSKA Sofia on 06/03/22, as guests of the Levski Family Association (LFA).
The LFA are a charity run along similar lines to JP8, suporting the families of Levski supporters We were delighted to be able to help them with a donation in 2021, and have remained in close contact with them since.
Our hosts were Ivo Taskov and Milan Panayotov, who looked after Scot and Rich during the trip and even managed to get them pitchside during the game for some stunning photos.
The game was played in a blizzard, which didn't stop the Levski fans enjoying themselves, the match finished 0-0.
Football rivalries don't come any larger than this, a derby between the two biggest teams in Bulgaria, Levski Sofia and CSKA Sofia.
The game is so large that it's now held at the Vasil Levski national stadium.
So far the Blues (Levski) lead the Reds (CSKA) by 289-281 wins in terms of results, but every match is a huge event in Sofia.

Even the walk to the ground followed a particular route, stopping at several locations linked to the Bulgarian revolution in 1989. After the game, it was back to a local bar for a beer, and to warm up.

A huge than you to our hosts for their fantastic hospitality, and to the fans in Sector B. We also had the kind donation of a Levski home shirt and Sector B scarf, which we will auction at one of our next events.
