The JP8 Summer 7's Tournament

M&B Sports Ground, Dagenham. 15/07/23

Full On Grassroots Football

What A Fantastic Day

This is what charity tournaments are all about. Fourteen teams playing some ultra-competitive football, and supporting  the JP8 cause.

There were stalls and rides everywhere, and the event attracted a steady stream of people all day,  It was fantastic to also be able to support a number of local businesses, especially during this cost of living crisis.

A few of the scratch teams were distracted by the beer and burgers on offer, but most of the teams were there for the trophy and bragging rights for the upcoming season.

The 14 teams were divided into two groups, and the group games started quite early, on the four pitches expertly prepared by the M&B groundsmen.

The 7 a side format made all of the games fast and furious", and required a lot of one touch play in the limited space, which a few teams struggled with at first.

Who won the trophy ? Watch the video below.

After the footie was done, the teams and supporters retired to the M&B clubhouse for "refreshments", and a sporting memorabilia auction and raffle.
